Snow Polo
Snow Polo is a version of a polo played in winter usually on ice surfaces. The sport was born in St Moritz in Switzerland, and the first tournament of the championship was played in 1985 over a frozen lake. Today snow polo is played in several locations around the world during winter time, including Aspen, USA; Cortina, Italy; Kitzbuhel, Austria; Courchevel, France, Tianjin, China and in Moscow, Russia.

St. Moritz, Switzerland
Snow Polo World Cup ( 27-29 January)
St. Moritz has grown in status since 1864 when Johannes Badrutt sat by a fire in the Kulm Hotel. He was impressed by the snow landscape covered in sunshine with mild temperatures and a destination that he called a paradise on earth. In the 1890s the English started to visit making the destination a hotspot for winter sports and eventually the Winter Olympic Games of 1928 and 1948 were held here.
St. Moritz has played host to the world’s pre-eminent snow polo tournament since 1985. Besides being the first-ever snow polo tournament, the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz is the only «high goal» polo tournament played on snow. Cradled in a gorgeous natural setting, the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz exudes a unique atmosphere on and alongside the playing field. Snow Polo Tournament (12 - 15 January)
Kitzbühel Polo was established with the initial Snow Polo Tournament in January 2003. Starting with 4 international teams and 1,000 visitors in year one. The winter event has established itself as one of the leading global polo events, reaching 8 international teams and 15,000 spectators by 2016.
Kitzbühel Polo is a partner event with Miami Beach Polo, St. Moritz Polo, Baku Polo as well as Grand Champions Polo Club, Wellington and Aspen Polo.

Snow polo tournament (End December)
Aspen snow polo combines St. Regis polo tradition with the Aspen appeal of winter sports. Snow polo in the U.S. is competed exclusively in Aspen at this annual event which takes place during the second half of December, where the event kicks off the Aspen social season, inviting top equestrian athletes from across the globe and an audience from stylish high society.
